According to „Arbeitsgemeinschaft PVC und Umwelt e. V.“
(AGPU) the major end users of plasticized PVC are:
- building industry
- electrical industry
- automotive engineering
- sporting goods industry
The following product lines are made with
phthalates:
- cable, roof insulation, truck tarpaulins, underbody
protection
- flooring, wallpapers, shower curtains
- baby clothes, toys
- packing
- imitation leather, shoes, sport and leisure clothes
- medical products:hoses and blood bags
In the year 2004 the market share of
phthalate-free plasticizers in Western Europe
achieved about seven per cent (AGPU 2006), e.g.:
- Did(2-ethylhexyl)adapt (DEHA; food packing)
- Di-isononyladipat (DINA; flooring and wallpapers)
- Acetyltributyl-citrat (ATBC; toys)
Other phthalate-free plasticizers are
phosphate and DINCH.
Polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene
(PP) is a phthalate-free plastic.
